Eucalypts are one of Australia’s most identifiable symbols and are critically important to biodiversity and environmental sustainability. They are commercially Australia’s most important native trees and are now the most planted hardwoods worldwide.

Eucalypt genetics has been studied in Tasmania since the 1930s.  Our laboratory is located at the UTAS Sandy Bay campus, nestled between the sea and a mountain, surrounded by great natural diversity.

Study with us

We are keen to talk to potential Honours and Postgraduate students about their research interests. We have several planned research projects aligned with our Research Themes for which we are looking for students. However, we are happy to develop other research projects in collaboration with students.
